Hobby time!

I have been taking care of a Swiss lady for about two years now. She has a fantastic art of stained glass creations. I have been in complete awe of her creations since day one. Her specialties that I can tell are her angels. She has a 3x3 foot RED angel with white wings that is beyond describable. I am going to have to take a picture of it and post it.

Well, April 2010 she started the itch in me to learn more! I asked her how do I go about doing a stepping stone??? She said OOOo its easy here let me show you. Luckily for me she already had pre cut pieces of a cardinal and some dogwood flowers (North Carolina State bird and flower) so I basically got to get a "feel" of the glass in my hands and the placement of them on a stone, the cement, and the final touches. I LOVED IT! It turned out GREAT = I thought anyways...

So, needless to say I quickly set forth onto my next stone. This time she said I was ready to learn the skill of cutting the glass! ?? what?? you mean it isn't going to be pre cut for me any more? YIKES now we are getting dangerous- Me cutting glass! Snip snip of the scissors right and I will have my cut glass? OOOO No, there is an art in which you cause the glass to give into what you want, and it is called scoring the glass. Also for me a test of patience. So, a new hobby at hand and a time to focus for success... Project 2... a Robin and Mountain Laurel (Connecticut's state bird and flower)

Holy smokes 2 finished pieces all on my own! The CT bird is going to CT this week as a Mother's day gift. I am hoping it will be loved!
