Koi stone

I started this one a bit ago.. I was just so timid about their heads they are weird and then mother's day came in and I was like well I will just hold off. Then the water issue and I just got a bit bummed but NOW... this one is really awesome!!! I figured out the concrete which helps out a lot! I had the wrong amount needed much more and probably should do the cats over at least one more time of the cement!

Mother's day stone ...

It was a hit!! MOM LOVED IT!! she put it at the bottom of her steps in her back yard!!

I kinda am at a holding pattern... I really want to make my garden markers which Matt put out in the garden and I might add they look Awesome!!! but I don't want them to go to waste piling up in his building! So if you know of anyone that wants to fluff their garden with some really cool veggie markers let me know!!
I can now update my blog from my phone!! No glass today :( but my koi stone is finished

meow meow meow...

The first cat of Mom's stone is done. So 2 more to go and then get it glued down and we may have something by Mother's day! Matt mailed his Mother's stone off yesterday and that only came in at nearly $1 per pound YIKES>>> 37lbs is A lot to be shipping 900 miles but I hope she likes it!

I added cuts 3 and 4 to my hands... OUCH! It really hurts when hair dye or other strong chemical creeps just under the skin... oh my. Pictures to come soon!

Mother's Day stone

I have to make a cat stone now... I have been working on these stained glass creations for about a month now and my own mother had no clue that I even knew how to do such things. SO, with that in mind I am now on a hunt for some kind of cat pattern to place on a stepping stone for my mom. I think I found one made by a major glass company that has these 3 cats lined up that I could easily make mom's cats into a black cat, a furry grey ish fur ball and a turtle coat looking one. It would be a challenge seeing how today IS the 3rd and Mother's day is the 9th... I can do it.. why not?? She deserves it and I am job less so why not??

I just finished my Koi cuts so I just need to place them and then put the mud on the stone I CAN:T wait for that one to be finished!!! I would give that one to mom but she doesn't really like those things so... I must put it on hold for this week and get those kitties done I can't wait to see how they look!!

Garden Markers

So I am getting the hang of scoring and breaking the glass. I have been very much afraid of the glass cutting me and in every right I should be. I started with this grand scheme of I am going to see about making some money off this new found art of mine. OK I got Zealous in this matter my third project I am already off trying to market it in local stores. Maybe a bit early with my work seeing how the rejection was harsh and a bit callous but it was made warm and soft by a very lovable man I know!!
Here are my first set of carrots before they were cemented in the stone.

They did get to looking better after some mud was put on the stone and smoothed out they did look like real veggies and I thought were kinda cute to have!

I also knocked out these guys and they are still pending the mud because I had to show that lady that rejected me that she was not going to stop me. Though if you were to ask me how many other places I have stopped to see if they would be willing to sell my pieces the answer would be -0-

I still have the fruit to go and I am going to go to other locations and see if someone else would be interested in placing my work for sale!

Hobby time!

I have been taking care of a Swiss lady for about two years now. She has a fantastic art of stained glass creations. I have been in complete awe of her creations since day one. Her specialties that I can tell are her angels. She has a 3x3 foot RED angel with white wings that is beyond describable. I am going to have to take a picture of it and post it.

Well, April 2010 she started the itch in me to learn more! I asked her how do I go about doing a stepping stone??? She said OOOo its easy here let me show you. Luckily for me she already had pre cut pieces of a cardinal and some dogwood flowers (North Carolina State bird and flower) so I basically got to get a "feel" of the glass in my hands and the placement of them on a stone, the cement, and the final touches. I LOVED IT! It turned out GREAT = I thought anyways...

So, needless to say I quickly set forth onto my next stone. This time she said I was ready to learn the skill of cutting the glass! ?? what?? you mean it isn't going to be pre cut for me any more? YIKES now we are getting dangerous- Me cutting glass! Snip snip of the scissors right and I will have my cut glass? OOOO No, there is an art in which you cause the glass to give into what you want, and it is called scoring the glass. Also for me a test of patience. So, a new hobby at hand and a time to focus for success... Project 2... a Robin and Mountain Laurel (Connecticut's state bird and flower)

Holy smokes 2 finished pieces all on my own! The CT bird is going to CT this week as a Mother's day gift. I am hoping it will be loved!
